Short Story King

I\'m In Love With His Internal Organs

It was a dreary, rainy day in London, and I was feeling particularly down. I was walking down the cobblestone streets, trying to avoid the puddles and the mud, when I suddenly heard a faint meowing sound. I looked around, but I couldn see where it was coming from.

”Meow, meow, ” the sound grew louder and more insistent. I followed it until I saw a small, scruffy kitten huddled under a bush. It was soaking wet and shivering, and it looked up at me with big, pleading eyes.

”Oh, you poor thing, ” I said, feeling a surge of pity. I reached out and carefully picked up the kitten, cradling it in my arms. It nuzzled against me, purring softly. ”You
e too cute to be out here in this weather. Lets get you out of here. ”

I walked quickly back to my apartment, trying to shield the kitten from the rain. When I got inside, I wrapped it in a warm blanket and put it in a box by the fireplace. It was still cold and wet, but at least it was out of the rain.

”You
e safe now, ” I said, stroking its fur gently. ”But I can keep you. I already have two cats, and my landlord doesn allow pets. ”

”Meow, ” The kitten looked up at me with its big, blue eyes, as if it understood. It meowed pitifully, and I felt a pang of guilt.

”Im sorry, little one, ” I said, feeling a lump in my throat. ”But I can keep you. Ill have to find you a new home. ”

While looking at the adorable kitten, I knew that it would be hard to find someone who would love it as much as I did. And I couldn bear the thought of it being out in the cold and rain again.

”What am I going to do? ” I muttered to myself, feeling hopeless.

Just then, there was a knock on the door. I opened it to find my neighbour, Mrs. Jones, standing there with a worried look on her face.

”Hello, dear, ” she said. ”Im sorry to bother you, but I was wondering if youve seen my cat. Shes been missing for hours, and Im worried sick about her. ”

I looked down at the kitten in the box, and I knew that I had to make a decision. I could either tell Mrs. Jones the truth and risk her not wanting the kitten, or I could lie and say that I hadn seen her cat.

I took a deep breath and said, ”Yes, Mrs. Jones. Ive seen your cat. Shes right here. ”

Mrs. Joness face lit up with relief and happiness. ”Oh, thank goodness, ” she said, smiling. ”May I see her? ”

I hesitantly lifted the kitten out of the box and handed it to Mrs. Jones. She took it gently in her arms and cooed at it.

”Oh, shes so adorable, ” Mrs. Jones said. ”Thank you so much for taking care of her. I don know what I would have done if something bad had happened to her. ”

I felt a sense of relief wash over me, knowing that the kitten was safe and would have a loving home. But at the same time, I couldn help feeling a twinge of sadness as I watched Mrs. Jones walk away with the kitten in her arms.

”Im too cute to die, ” the kitten seemed to say with its big, blue eyes and as I closed the door, I couldn help but agree.
