Short Story King

I Have A Big Rifle!

The bustling city of London was being graced by the overhead sun. Meantime, Dr. Lucy Foster made her way to the hospital for her late night shift. She had been a dedicated doctor for over ten years, but tonight, she felt a strange sense of excitement and anticipation.

She stepped into the hospital lobby and greeted the receptionist, who handed her a file with the nights first patient. Lucy flipped through the pages, her eyes scanning the details of the case. A young man, only 25 years old, was in critical condition after a terrible car accident. His injuries were severe, and he was in need of immediate surgery.

Lucy made her way to the operating room, where her team was already preparing for the delicate procedure. She slipped on her surgical mask and gloves, and looked up to see the patient being wheeled in on a gurney. She was struck by his handsome face, despite the bruises and cuts that marred his skin.

”Hello, Im Dr. Foster, ” she said, introducing herself to the unconscious man. ”Im going to be operating on you tonight. ”

As she began the surgery, Lucys skilled hands moved deftly, repairing the damaged internal organs with precision. She couldn help but feel a strange connection to the patient, as if she was meant to be the one to save his life.

Sometime later…

”Hes stable, ” she announced to the operating room, a hint of pride in her voice. ”We can close him up now. ”

As the surgery came to an end, Lucy felt that she was falling in love with this mans internal organs. She knew it was a strange and inappropriate thought, but she couldn help it. She made a mental note to check on the patients progress in the coming days, hoping to see him again and learn more about him.

A couple of days passed, Lucy found herself thinking more and more about the young man who had been her patient. She couldn shake the strange feelings she had for him, and she found herself checking in on him at every opportunity.

One evening, after her shift had ended, she found herself standing outside his hospital room, her heart pounding in her chest. She hesitated for a moment, unsure if she should go in and introduce herself properly. But before she could make up her mind, the door to the room opened and a young woman stepped out.

”Are you a friend of his? ” the woman asked, eyeing Lucy suspiciously.

”Im his doctor, ” Lucy replied, trying to keep her voice steady. ”I just wanted to see how he was doing. ”

”Hes doing much better, thanks to you, ” the woman said, her face softening. ”Im his sister, by the way. My name is Sarah. ”

”Its nice to meet you, Sarah, ” Lucy said, offering her hand. ”Im Dr. Foster. ”

”Thank you for everything youve done for my brother, ” Sarah said, shaking Lucys hand. ”Hes very lucky to have you as his doctor. ”

”It was my pleasure to help, ” Lucy said, trying to hide the blush that was spreading across her cheeks. ”Can I see him? ”

”Of course, ” Sarah said, stepping aside to let Lucy into the room.

Lucy entered the room, her heart racing. She approached the bed where the young man was sleeping, her eyes taking in the sight of him. He looked so peaceful, and she couldn help but feel a surge of emotion as she gazed at him. She knew she was falling in love with him, and she didn know what to do about it.

”Hes a very lucky man, ” a voice said from behind her.

Lucy turned to see the mans brother standing in the doorway, a smile on his face. ”I couldn agree more, ” she said, returning his smile.

The two of them stood in silence for a moment, both lost in their own thoughts. Lucy couldn help but wonder if the man in the bed would ever know how she felt, and if he would ever feel the same way. She knew it was forbidden for a doctor to have romantic feelings for a patient, but she couldn help it. She was in love with his internal organs, and she didn know what to do about it.

”I should probably get going, ” Lucy said, breaking the silence. ”I have an early shift tomorrow. ”

”Thank you for everything youve done for him, ” the man said, following her to the door. ”We
e very grateful. ”

”It was my pleasure, ” Lucy said, trying to hide the emotion in her voice. ”Please let me know if theres anything else I can do. ”

With that, she turned and walked out of the room, her heart heavy with unspoken feelings. She knew she would have to figure out a way to move on, but for now, she was just grateful that the man she loved was on the road to recovery.
